WhatsApp Chat Between Rolo & Saracen
Rolo: Oi, Saracen, you awake?
Saracen: Barely. Been asleep all day. You’re no fun.
Rolo: Excuse me?? I’M no fun?? I’m the one stuck in this bed while Liz runs around like a headless chicken. She just cleaned my litter trays and bowls AGAIN. Think I should start throwing some litter around, just to keep her on her toes?
Saracen: I support this plan. She’s already sprinting back and forth with clean bedding and puppy pads for you. Something about you still “struggling a bit.”
Rolo: Well, excuse me for breaking my pelvis! Do you know how hard it is to aim when you can’t move properly?
Saracen: Not my problem, mate. I just get to sit here and watch the chaos.
Rolo: Chaos is right. She nearly tripped over the mop just now. Thought she was about to go flying. I’d have helped, but, y’know, broken pelvis.
Saracen: I’d have helped too, but I was busy… observing.
Rolo: You mean sleeping.
Saracen: Same thing. Anyway, I heard Liz talking earlier—she was muttering something about new cats coming in and needing to make space.
Rolo: Oh great. More competition. As if your lack of a tail wasn’t enough of a talking point already.
Saracen: Oi! The tail’s overrated. I’m still a catch. Well… if someone actually wanted to catch me.
Rolo: They will, mate. You’re feeling your best now, aren’t you? No more raging hormones, no more yelling at the moon for no reason.
Saracen: True. It’s peaceful now. I even slept on the bed last night like a proper gentleman. Until Liz woke up coughing. She’s sick, you know. Still looking after all of us, though.
Rolo: Yeah, I noticed. She gave me my medicine earlier with that tired look. Feel a bit bad now about the whole litter-flinging idea.
Saracen: Nah, do it anyway. Keeps her sharp.
Rolo: You’re a terrible influence.
Saracen: I try.
Rolo: Think you’ll find a home soon?
Saracen: Hope so. Even without a tail, I reckon I’d make someone a great best friend.
Rolo: Yeah, you would. Just… don’t sleep all day when you get there.
Saracen: No promises.

And in the background, Liz keeps working, exhausted but determined—because even on her worst days, she’s still making sure every cat, tail or no tail, broken pelvis or not, has a shot at a better life.
